Castor Oil Packs and MAM

Castor oil is derived from the bean of the Ricinus communis or Palm of Christi plant. The Palma Christi has been used therapeutically for centuries in the folk medicine of ancient India, Persia, Africa, Greece, Rome, and the Americas. It has large, beautiful palmate leaves hence the name, Palma Christi.
Edgar Cayce, a medical intuitive known as the "sleeping prophet", introduced castor oil packs for the treatment of many conditions. As an external oil pack, it has been used to treat a variety of health conditions such as arthritis, liver and intestinal disorders, tumors, cysts, and skin conditions. Taken internally, castor oil is a strong cathartic and is not recommended as there are ways to relieve constipation that are not as harsh.

Some of the numerous uses of castor oil incude the treatment of breast cysts, fibroids, overian cysts, congestion of abdominal organs, skin conditions, small benign cysts, and adhesions from surgery. Wherever there is congestion, decreased bloob flow and need for healing, castor oil can be an effective treatment option and works well in combination with MAM.


Herbal Vaginal Steams and MAM

Vaginal steam baths, or "Bajos"(ba-hoes), as they are known in Spanish, are an old, respected treatment for women used by midwifes and healers. They are a common and effective treatment used to assist in the cleansing of the uterus in conjunction with MAM for the for the treatment of numerous female symptoms, especially those of a serious or chronic nature.They are also good preventative care and can be done as a ritual seasonally.
The most commonly used herbs are marigold, oregano, basil, and rosemary. Motherwort, St. John's wort, chamomile, damiana, red clover, dandelion, yellow dock, horsetail, and lavender are also beneficial.
